5-Day Itinerary: Tangier to Marrakech Desert Tour

DAY 01 - Tangier ⇢ Rif Mountains ⇢ Chefchaouen
Your 5-day Morocco tour starts with a warm welcome at Tangier airport, port, or your hotel. You will be accompanied by your local guide through the stunning Rif Mountains of northern Morocco. You will pass through beautiful villages and amazing scenery before arriving at the enchanting town of Chefchaouen.
Chefchaouen is well known for its beautiful blue-washed buildings that provide a stunning, photogenic fantasy atmosphere. Upon arrival, you will check into a comfortable hotel or riad, then have free time to explore the delightful medina with its quaint alleyways, bustling souks, and beautiful cafes serving authentic Moroccan food. Make sure to stop by the old kasbah, which is situated in the heart of the medina complex, enjoy a mint tea at Outa Hammam Plaza, and take a short walk to the picturesque Ras El Ma waterfall.

DAY 02 - Chefchaouen ⇢ Fes
The day begins with a delicious breakfast at your riad, then you embark on your enchanting journey to Fes. Once you arrive in Fes, you will be met by a friendly local guide who looks forward to sharing the magical sights of the city with you; from wandering the old streets to learning all about this extraordinary medieval city, you will see a fantastic display of medieval architecture. You will have the option to have lunch in the busy Medina, with the sights, smells, and flavors of authentic local Moroccan dishes.
After a long day of exploring Fes, it's time for a bit of rest! You will stay in a welcoming riad in the heart of Fes Medina, offering a quiet place to unwind after the city's excitement. Please take advantage of it and enjoy the multiple benefits of relaxation while still soaking up all the charm of the city of Fes.

DAY 03 - Fes ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Middle Atlas Mountains ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga desert
We will start our desert journey after a sumptuous breakfast at your riad in Fes. To reach the majestic Erg Chebbi Dunes in Merzouga, we will travel south to Ifrane, where we will relax and soak up the stunning views of the surrounding area.
As we continue driving, we will cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and make a quick stop at one of the cedar forests along the way. Here you will have the opportunity to see Barbary apes in the wild! After our stop, we will have lunch in a restaurant along our route to ensure that you have plenty of fuel to continue our journey.
As we continue into the Ziz Valley, you will be in awe of the beautiful oasis formed by palm trees, and it will give you a sense of how breathtaking the desert can be.
Once we reach the desert in the afternoon, you will start your camel caravan adventure! You will be riding camels on the enchanting dunes of Erg Chebbi, and you can stop on top of a dune to experience an incredible sunset, which will be a special moment.
After your camel ride, you will arrive at a luxury camp. After checking into your private tent, you will have time to relax and enjoy refreshments before another evening of local tastes. Around a fire, in the middle of a star-filled sky, your camp staff will entertain you with good times, drumming, and traditional Berber music. Try your hand at playing the drums and help celebrate the evening.

DAY 04 - Merzouga desert ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Dades Valley
We highly recommend waking up at sunrise to take in the stunning views over the dunes. After a hearty breakfast, you can choose between a camel ride or a 4x4 transfer to Merzouga, where your guide and driver will be waiting to lead you to the Dades Valley.
This stretch of the journey includes visits to fascinating sites, such as the colorful market in Rissani, where you’ll find a lively bazaar on select days (Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays). You can also stroll through the spectacular Todra Gorge and enjoy breathtaking views of the Todra River.
As we continue to the Dades Gorge, you’ll see incredible rock formations known as “monkey fingers,” offering sweeping views of the beautiful Dades Valley before you head to your overnight accommodations in a charming hotel, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.

DAY 05 - Dades Valley ⇢ Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Marrakech
On your final day of the 5-day Tangier to Marrakech trip, you will stop in Ouarzazate, which is known as the “Hollywood of Africa” and the “Gateway to the Desert.” Here you can opt to visit Atlas Studios, Morocco’s largest film studio, giving you the chance to see famous movie sets and get an inside look at movie-making.
After touring the studios, we head to Ait Ben Haddou. This is where you’ll get to visit Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah (a UNESCO World Heritage Site and featured in many movies, including “The Mummy” and “Prince of Persia”). Take your time exploring its intricate architecture and intricately decorated walls.
Following lunch, we continue our journey through one of Earth's most beautiful landscapes—the High Atlas Mountains. You’ll be amazed by its stunning scenery. In the late afternoon, we finally arrive in Marrakech, concluding this incredible Tangier to Marrakech Tour with Morocco Camel Trekking.
