Overview of the Hot Air Balloon Ride in Marrakech
Take a wonderful hot air balloon ride in Marrakech and see Morocco from a stunning new angle. You will drift silently at sunrise over the exciting city, traditional Berber villages, and the endless Agafay Desert landscape with beautiful views of the monumental Atlas Mountains.
Your journey begins with a morning pickup from your hotel or riad in a brand-new 4×4 vehicle. You will be driven to the launch site to meet our proficient and certified pilots, who will provide detailed information concerning safety before takeoff. Enjoy a relaxing, private flight lasting 40–70 minutes, covering approximately 10–15 miles (20–30 km), taking in the series of desert-style landscapes, mountains, and the sweet urban vibrancy of Marrakech.
When you land, you can add to your experience by taking an optional camel ride through the Agafay Desert (charge not included) and taste a traditional Berber lunch with Moroccan mint tea in a beautiful oasis tent afterward. We do not include breakfast and traditional Moroccan homemade Berber bread but can help arrange it upon request.

Hotel/Riad Pickup
Your friendly driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech and take you on a beautiful 45-minute drive to the balloon launch site.
Meet the Team and Safety Briefing
Upon arrival, you will meet our expert pilots, who will get the balloon ready and then provide a full safety briefing.
Hot Air Balloon Flight (1 Hour)
Enjoy a private 1-hour hot air balloon flight covering 10 to 15 miles, flying over Berber villages, desert landscapes, and the Palm Grove. You will have the chance to enjoy bird's-eye views of Marrakech and the nearby Atlas Mountains.
Optional Camel Ride and Mint Tea
After the balloon landing, you may choose to enjoy an optional camel ride throughout the stunning Agafay Desert at extra cost or simply take in the views of the desert on foot. You will enjoy fresh Moroccan mint tea provided in a traditional Berber tent. Homemade Berber bread and breakfast is not included in the standard tour price but is available upon request.

Complete your adventure with a relaxed transfer back to your hotel or riad, arriving there by 11 am.

Good to Know
- Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and layer your clothing. Mornings can be quite chilly in Marrakech as you fly at higher elevations, but once the sun rises, the temperatures will warm up a bit. A light jacket is a beneficial idea!
- For safety reasons, we recommend avoiding loose or flowing clothing, hats, and scarves, as they could blow off during the flight. Sunglasses and a hat are a beneficial idea to protect yourself from the sun.
- The hot air balloon basket does not have any storage compartments, so travel lightly and secure your belongings in a small backpack or small pouch.
- Although you do not need to be in shape, you must be able to get in and out of the basket, so please exercise some care; some level of mobility is required.
- We highly recommend bringing your camera—the panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains, Marrakech, and the Agafay Desert are absolutely breathtaking!
- Hot air balloon flights are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled for safety reasons.

- Cancellation less than 24 hours of the start of the trip is subject to a 50% cancellation fee.

A Magical Sunrise Over the Moroccan Desert
What a wonderful way to wake up! Our team arrived very early in the morning and took us to the launch area. They took time setting up the hot air balloon. Floating high above the Agafay desert to watch the sunrise was from earth to surreal! The experience was smooth and relaxing, and our pilot was very knowledgeable! We had a wonderful panoramic view of the whole area. The breakfast was delicious and the perfect way to end the morning. I would do it again!
Absolutely Worth It!
This was definitely the best part of our trip to Morocco! The hot air balloon trip was smooth and safe, and the views of the desert and mountains at sunrise were fantastic. The crew was very hospitable and took excellent care of us. Although it was a bit more expensive, it’s worth it for the memories. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Marrakech!

A beautiful, stunning landscape, but expensive
The hot air balloon trip was remarkable! The views were stunning, and the employees were awesome! They made us feel safe and secure during the flight. It was so peaceful floating over the desert at sunrise, and we took some fantastic photos. It is a good experience, but I feel the price is quite high. It was worth it for the memories, but this might be a deal breaker for some. Still, I think it's an experience to consider during a visit to Marrakesh.
