Our shared 3-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour begins in the morning. We depart from the lively city of Marrakech and travel over the High Atlas Mountains to Ouarzazate. We will have several stops during the trip, allowing us to take in the magnificent views of the Atlas Mountains and see several authentic Berber villages.
We will arrive in Ait Ben Haddou village, which will allow us to visit the most celebrated Kasbah (fortified village) in Morocco. This is an excellent representation of Moroccan architecture, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Kasbah served as a partial filming location for numerous popular movies and TV series, such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Babel, and Game of Thrones.
After a visit to the Kasbah with our guide, we drive to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara and the "Hollywood of Africa." We will stop for pictures (just from outside, please) at Atlas Studio, the world's largest film studio. We drive to the final destination through the Valley of Roses and, if time allows, will drive to see the bizarre rock formations (known as monkey toes) and the famous view of the zig-zag road in the Dades Gorges before we check into our hotel.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast in our lovely hotel, we will drive to Todra Gorge via Tinghir and the Todra Valley (an oasis of palm trees). The next stop is a walk under the impressive Todra Canyon before we continue driving to Merzouga.
We will arrive in the wonderful town of Merzouga in the afternoon. There, our camels will be waiting for us to join a classic camel caravan across the Erg Chebbi Dunes that will lead us to our luxury camp. During the ride, we will stop on a high dune to watch a magical sunset. After sunset, we will continue to Bivouac.
When we arrive at the camp, our camp staff will welcome you with a cup of mint tea and show you your private tent. Afterward, sit back and relax, or perhaps enjoy a shower before dinner. After a delicious dinner, we will share a night of Berber music and drumming around the campfire.
We recommend waking up early today to enjoy a tranquil sunrise. After having a delicious breakfast at camp, we will depart in 4x4 vehicles to the town of Merzouga. You may choose to ride back on camels again.
Start the journey to Fes by driving along the Ziz Valley, where we will have a quick stop to see this lovely oasis. Thereafter, we'll continue driving toward Fez along the Middle Atlas Mountains and the city of Ifrane, with some stops along the way. We will also stop by the road in a cedar forest near Ifrane to see some Barbary apes if they are there! The last stop will be in Ifrane, Morocco's Switzerland.
Your shared 3-day Morocco desert tour from Marrakech to Fes will conclude when we drop you off at your Riad.
