Seven days is exactly the right amount of time to do Morocco properly — not rushed between airports, but as one continuous journey from the red city of Marrakech to the white city of Tangier. The route takes you across the High Atlas Mountains, through ancient kasbahs and dramatic gorges, deep into the Sahara, and back north through cedar forests, imperial cities, and the blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen.
You start with a full day exploring Marrakech — the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, Jemaa El Fna, and the souks of the old medina. Day 2 crosses the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass to Ait Ben Haddou and the Dades Valley. Day 3 brings Todra Gorge and then Merzouga, where your camel is waiting at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
After the Sahara sunrise, the route heads north through the Ziz Valley, the cedar forests of Azrou, and the alpine streets of Ifrane before arriving in Fes for a full day in the world's oldest medina. Then Meknes, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, and finally Chefchaouen — before the last drive north to Tangier and the sea.
You will be picked up from Marrakech Menara Airport and taken to your hotel, where you will meet with a local expert guide. You will then start exploring the charming Marrakech Medina, visiting the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, El Badi Palace, and the Mellah (the Jewish quarter). After lunch, visit Jemaa El Fna Square, the Koutoubia Mosque, Majorelle Garden, and the souks, then enjoy a free afternoon to explore at your own pace.
Early morning, your driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech. The road climbs through the High Atlas Mountains, passing Berber villages built into the hillsides, until you reach the Tizi n'Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres.
Next, we will visit Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO World Heritage Site), to explore the mud-built structures situated on the hill. Lunch will be at the nearby restaurants. From there, we will drive to the Dades Valley, passing through Ouarzazate, known as the Moroccan Hollywood. Then, we will stop at the Rose Valley Kalaat Mgouna, known for its annual rose festival in May. Finally, we will arrive at the Dades gorges, where you will dine in beautiful local restaurants overlooking the rocky gorges, and you will spend the night there.
In the morning, after breakfast, we explore the rock formations known as "the monkey fingers". From Dades, we drive east to the Todra Valley and on to the gorge itself — where 300-metre walls close in on either side and the canyon goes completely quiet. Passing through Tinghir, we will arrive at the gorges, where you will explore the place and walk under the red cliff 300m high.
Then, we will continue to Merzouga village, passing through Erfoud and Rissani, where you will have lunch. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you will go to the hotel to rest and enjoy a cup of Moroccan mint tea. Then, you will head to the desert on camels for a sunset camel trek into the dunes.
After that, you will spend the night in a luxury desert camp at the heart of the desert, enjoying the fire camps, Berber dinner, and a sky so full of stars it barely looks real.
We recommend waking up slightly earlier in the morning to watch the Sahara sunrise as the dunes shift colour in the early light. After breakfast, your camel guide will take you back to Merzouga via camels or by vehicle, on your choice. Then, we will start our day to Fes through Errachidia, and the beautiful Ziz Valley (a stunning gorge carved by the Ziz River). Stop to walk the gorge floor if conditions allow.
You will then continue your journey from Zaida, where you can enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch with barbecue and refreshing mint tea.
Near Azrou, the cedar forest takes over — and the Barbary macaques that live here have absolutely no fear of people. They'll wander right up to you if you let them.
Your final stop will be in Ifrane, often referred to as "Little Switzerland", where you can take your time to walk around town and see the famous lion landmark. Once you have passed through Immouzer-Kandar, you will arrive in Fes in the late afternoon, where you will spend the night in a traditional riad or hotel.
Following breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Fes by your driver, and your exploration of the city will begin. Fes is Morocco's spiritual and cultural heart — and today you'll spend a full day inside its ancient medina.
The day will begin at the impressive gate of the Royal Palace. You'll then enter the medieval medina through the Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), which is an antique and well-preserved structure; the Fes Medina was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will have a local guide who will show you the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, the leather tanneries, and the Quaraouin Mosque and University, which is regarded as the oldest continuously operating university in the world.
In the afternoon, you will leave the medina to wander the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter, with its distinctive architecture and covered market streets. Then, you will visit the nearby ancient fortress from which you can see great views over the complex and labyrinthine narrow streets of the medina. To end your full day of exploring, you will return to your riad.
After breakfast, we depart from Fes and continue to Meknes. The imperial city was built by Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century. In Meknes, we will see the impressive Bab Al-Mansour gate, one of Morocco's great architectural wonders, blending Moroccan and Andalusian styles. Built in the 18th century, the grand entrance is 16 meters high and 8 meters wide and is covered in intricately carved marble arches, green and white zellij tiles, and other fantastic calligraphy. It is considered one of the finest gates in North Africa.
We will also visit the Sahrij Souani basin, which served as a large reservoir of water, the royal stables known for their grand size, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, the shrine of the sultan who was responsible for making Meknes a strong imperial capital. You will have some free time for lunch in Meknes.
Following lunch, we drive a little over 32 kilometers to the Roman ruins of Volubilis (UNESCO World Heritage Site), known for its fantastic preservation, incredible mosaics, and monumental arches, which represent Morocco's legacy of both Roman and Berber heritage.
The final stretch crosses the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen — a hillside town painted almost entirely in shades of blue, with quiet alleyways and a medina that feels completely removed from anywhere you've been on this trip. You will spend the night in a lovely hotel in Chefchaouen.
After breakfast, and depending on your flight departure time, you may have some free time to wander the picturesque streets of the Blue City and enjoy the unique beauty of the medina in Chefchaouen.
Following this, we will make our way through the gorgeous Rif Mountains to Tangier. Upon arrival in Tangier, you will be transferred to either Tangier Med Port, the airport, or your hotel, concluding your 7-day journey across Morocco.
Every overnight stop has been chosen carefully — comfortable enough to rest properly, local enough to feel like Morocco. Luxury upgrades are available at every stop if you want more comfort or are celebrating something special.
Real stories from real guests
"We did the full 7-day tour from Marrakech to Tangier, and it was genuinely the best trip I've ever taken. Ibrahim picked us up from our riad, and from that moment, everything just worked. His knowledge of the country was extraordinary — history, culture, the best lunch spots, everything. The Sahara night was the obvious highlight, but what I didn't expect was how much I'd love the gorges, the Ziz Valley, and wandering through Fes with a local guide who knew every hidden corner. Seven days sounds long until you're in it — then it feels exactly right. If you're going to Morocco and you only do the cities, you haven't seen the country."
"Our group of five did the 7-day Marrakech to Tangier tour and every single one of us said it was the best week of travel we'd ever had. The variety is what gets you — you're in the mountains, then the desert, then an imperial city, then the blue streets of Chefchaouen, then Tangier by the sea. Idir was brilliant throughout — he knew when to give us time to explore and when to keep things moving. The desert night was something else. Riding camels into the dunes at sunset, drumming around the fire, and waking up for the sunrise. We're already talking about coming back."
"We used this company for the 7-day tour from Marrakech to Tangier and Omar was our guide for most of the journey. He was fantastic — genuinely knowledgeable and flexible with the itinerary when we wanted to spend longer somewhere. Fes was a highlight I hadn't expected — the tanneries, the medina, the sounds and smells of the old city. But the desert camp in Merzouga was still the moment everyone talks about. Berber drums, millions of stars, and silence you can actually feel. I'd recommend this company and this specific tour to anyone planning a trip to Morocco."
"We did the trek from Marrakesh, through the Atlas Mountains and into the Sahara before ending in Tangier. Our guide, Idir Najimi, made the difference between a wonderful time and a once-in-a-lifetime trip. He was incredibly knowledgeable and lots of fun. Drumming under the stars and a full moon in the sand dunes of the Sahara was an extraordinary moment. And Chefchaouen on the last day — those blue streets at sunrise — is something I'll carry with me for a long time. I can't wait to go back to Morocco."
