Tour Overview

Take a remarkable 4-day tour from Marrakech to explore the breathtaking landscapes and rich culture of Morocco. Starting in Marrakech, the trip will take you through the glorious Middle Atlas Mountain range before reaching the beautiful Ouzoud Waterfalls, well known for their three-tiered cascade and plentiful rainbows.

You will then drive onwards to the high-altitude Berber village of Imilchil, home to the twin lakes of Tislit and Isli, as well as the Imilchil Marriage Festival, where the rich local tradition is documented. You will have the opportunity to visit the remote Berber villages and experience the authentic hospitality of mountain locals.

You will then continue to one of the most stunning locations, the Todra Gorges, a giant canyon with high cliffs that attract climbers and hikers alike. You will then go on to the amazing dades Gorges, with its distinctive rock formations known as "Monkey Fingers" and routes that make ideal sunsets.

Part of the trip includes visiting the film town of Ouarzazate and the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a fortified settlement known for its features in many famous films.

This itinerary has the perfect combination of mountain landscapes, desert valleys, old kasbahs, and real Moroccan traditions and culture. Each day presents a new aspect of Morocco's charm until your return to the vibrant city of Marrakech.

4 Days Tour from Marrakech Itinerary:

01

DAY 01 - Marrakech ⇢ Ouzoud Waterfalls

After your breakfast in your accommodation in Marrakech, we depart for the Ouzoud cascades in the Middle Atlas Mountains. This 110-meter-high, three-tiered waterfall is spectacular and one of the most beautiful in all of Morocco.

The sunlight across the spray from the falls creates multi-layered rainbows, and you can take a raft ride to the base of the falls to experience its wonder and the power of nature. There are also guided walks to explore and discover this beautiful location.

You may well see the indigenous Barbary monkeys that come to feed here. Lunch can also be taken in full view of the cascades, and of course there are many photo opportunities. You will have plenty of time to enjoy this place, as you will be staying in a hotel nearby and enjoying dinner.

  • Drive: Marrakesh to Ouzoud Waterfalls- approx. 161 km (around 3 hr 05 mins)
02

DAY 02 - Ouzoud Waterfalls ⇢ Imilchil ⇢ Tislit, and Isli Lakes

After breakfast we continue our adventure and drive to Imilchil, which is a small Berber village that lies at the heart of the Middle Atlas.

It is a village well known in Morocco for its traditional Berber marriage ceremony with a sad story that started this festival; the two lakes Tislit and Isli are named after two lovers who were from different villages but who fell in love. Not permitted to be together, they took their lives.

Now, to ensure that love is never unrequited, they have a special festival each year. It is a very traditional village of simple Berber homes and farms. There you can enjoy breathtaking views of mountains and fertile valleys with rustic village houses and, in winter, snowy peaks in the background. Overnight with dinner.

  • Drive: Azilal to Imilchil - approx. 161 km (around 3 hr 35 mins)
03

DAY 03 - Imilchil ⇢ Dades Gorge via Tinerhir and Todra Gorge

After breakfast, there will be time to take a short walk to visit Tislit Lake. Afterwards we will drive to Todra Gorge through the Ait Hdidou Valley; this is a very traditional and authentic region with distinctive clothing and landscapes, Berber villages, and ways of life.

Todra Gorge is a favorite with international rock climbers, as it boasts a 300-meter vertical fault with a crystalline glacial river running through it. This pink-tinted canyon is only 10 meters wide at its narrowest point and was formed by glacial activity.

Nomads can be seen with their donkey filling up water containers. Our tour continues to the neighboring Dades Gorge via the silver mining town of Tinghir and Boumalne Dades. Dades has its own unique geology with some amazing rock formations as well as picturesque kasbahs in the valley. Half board in a traditional hotel in Dades Valley.

  • Drive: Imilchil to Boumalne Dades - approx. 195 km (around 5 hr 10 mins)
04

DAY 04 - Boumalne Dades ⇢ Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ High Atlas ⇢ Marrakech

After breakfast, we take the main road, which follows the Dades Valley filled with rose-colored kasbahs and fields lined with Damascus roses cultivated for their precious oils. This is a fertile green valley where agriculture is the main way of life.

The valley ends in a desert-like landscape until the oasis of Skoura and the city of Ouarzazate rise out of the dryness. After Ouarzazate we will stop to visit the famous Ksar Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and well known for its use as a film set.

This region is the Hollywood of Africa, as many films have been made here since the early 60s. From here, we will cross the High Atlas mountains, known for their unique landscapes and Berber villages, and then descend to the plains of Marrakech, where this 4-Day Tour from Marrakech to Imilchil via Ouzoud Waterfalls and Todra & Dades Gorges concludes.s.

Highly recommend! Desert tour

"A wonderful trip—a very well-planned tour, and the places you stay overnight are beautiful. Nice Riads and hotels. Our guide Aziz was so kind and helpful, sharing information and making the journey enjoyable. It was our honeymoon, and as a surprise, the car was decorated! Highly recommend this tour company. We did the 7 days in Morocco itinerary experience, which was a lovely way to explore many different parts of Morocco, including an overnight stay in the desert and a camel ride. On this desert tour, you get a good mix of exploring several cities with beautiful historical architecture and markets, as well as natural scenery like gorges and canyons."

An Excellent 7-Day Morocco Tour with Mustapha and Muhammad

"We had an excellent 7-day trip over T week with Morocco Camel Trekking. We were met in Casablanca by our tour guide (Mustapha) and our driver (Muhammad). Throughout the entire tour, both Mustapha and Muhammad demonstrated exceptional professionalism by being punctual, knowledgeable, and accommodating to any deviations from the usual itinerary. Morocco is a very interesting North African country, with a blend of Berber, Arabic, Spanish, French, and even Portuguese influences. Morocco Camel Trekking curated an excellent 7-day desert tour through which we can see all of these cultures and all sorts of climate/terrain (Mediterranean, deserts, alpine, and the Atlantic Ocean) through a one-day excursion after the tour. Hamid is a well-trained guide and provided eye-opening commentary for the entirety of the trip. The accommodations were high quality as well. Recommend the tour and Morocco in general; flights from Washington, DC, to Casablanca are cheap and convenient."
