On the first day of our 7 days tour from Casablanca, we will meet you at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport or your hotel. From here, we will take you to the Hassan II mosque, the biggest mosque in the country.
Then, we will head north to Chefchaouen, the blue pearl of Morocco. In addition, we will see amazing historical landmarks. They include the Roman ruins of Volubilis and Meknes. We will spend the night in Fes.
The next day, our great tour led us to the desert after visiting the Middle Atlas Region and the cedar forests of Azrou and Ifrane. Morocco calls Ifrane “Little Switzerland” as it lies high in the Atlas Mountains and snows in winter. But the best time has not yet come. Finally, we arrive at the desert, where we will spend a magical night under the stars in a desert camp.
We continue our drive to Marrakech after visiting the famous filming spots in Ouarzazate. We also explored the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a world heritage site.
Here we finish our 7-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca to the desert. The Morocco Camel Trekking Team thanks you for joining our 7-days tour from Casablanca of desert adventure. We hope you enjoyed Morocco’s treasure.
we will meet you in your hotel in Casablanca or at the airport and drive you to the famous Blue City of Chefchaouen. We will make a few short stops in Rabat capital of morocco to visit places of interest. After lunch, we will continue our tour to the magical blue medina of Chefchaouen. Overnight in a riad in the heart of Medina includes breakfast.
Today, you will have the free time to wander and explore the fantastic medina, its history, and hidden treasures. Also, fabulous shopping. Many artists and artisans make work only for this town.
Enjoy the nighttime atmosphere in the square, where many places offer great food. Overnight at the same riad with bed and breakfast.
After breakfast, we leave the blue city and travel across the beautiful region. We see fields of wheat, wildflowers, typical metal-roofed houses, and winding rivers. Our destination is Ouazzane; it is home to some of the best honey and figs.
Our next stop is the Roman Ruins of Volubilis. They are from the 3rd century and are a UNESCO site with many excavations. These include columns, mosaics, a huge gateway, and many streets and houses. This was a significant city dating back to 225 BC.
Your guide will give you an exciting insight into life back then and the history of the Romans in this region.
After that, we travel to the imperial city of Meknes. The Almoravid dynasty established it in the 11th century as a military outpost. Meknes became a capital under Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century.
He introduced a Hispano-Moorish style in the architecture. The style is in the great Bab Mansour, a gate of intricate mosaic. It's also in the ramparts, the granary, and the Sahrij Swani Basin. The basin used for irrigation and plantation.
From Meknes, we continue our 7-day tour from Casablanca to the spiritual capital of Fes. Overnight, it will be in a typical ornate riad in the medina.
After breakfast in your Riad, your guide will come to meet you and start your guided tour of Fes. The time comprises a walking and a driving part, allowing you to see and discover the most out of the day.
You will see the seven vast gates of the Royal Palace. Then, the Mellah or Jewish quarter. It was an important commercial area.
After that, a pottery cooperative. There you will see the intricate and fascinating work. It is involved in producing some of Morocco’s finest work. Also, an incredible panoramic viewpoint of the whole medina.
Finally, you will go into the medina for a delicious Fes-style lunch.
In the afternoon, you can visit Medina’s cultural and spiritual sites and monuments. You can also see its narrow souks full of foods and crafts, artisans, and famous tanneries. Fes has 9000 streets in a car-free zone. It is best explored with a knowledgeable local guide.
Its ancient history includes hosting the world’s oldest still-operating university. It has a library and mosque founded in 859 by a woman named Fatima, called the Quaraouiyine. Overnight in the same riad.
We leave Fes after breakfast and take the road south for the Sahara. Our first stop will be at Ifrane. Locals call it “the little Switzerland of Morocco” because of its alpine architecture.
We will enter the great cedar forest in the Middle Atlas Mountains. You will most likely see the indigenous Barbary monkeys swinging in the trees.
We stop in Midelt for lunch and follow the Ziz Valley, which has fantastic panoramic places to stop and view. The landscape changes as the journey continues south.
We see mountains, canyons, rivers, and plateaus. We see nomads with their simple homes and flocks of animals. As we near the towns of Errachidia and Erfoud, we see hints of the Sahara.
We drive through Berber villages from Erfoud to Rissani. Rissani was once the capital of Sijilmassa. It was the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty, Morocco’s current ruling royal family. The open, vast desert is suddenly in front of us, and Merzouga awaits us with a welcoming glass of mint tea.
Our camels will also be waiting to take you across the golden dunes to your desert camp for a night under the stars. A traditional dinner and Berber music will be served around the campfire.
One of the best times of the day is before the sunrises. The silence is unique. The way the light changes as the sun moves across the dunes is amazing.
You will be woken in time to enjoy this. Then, you will ride the camels back in silence to fully appreciate the desert and the Erg Chebbi Dunes. You can have breakfast and a refreshing shower before we take the road for our day’s adventure.
We travel from Merzouga to Rissani. We pass through Adobe Kasbah towns and villages, and past vast palm groves. Then, we go to Tinghir and up into the Todra Gorge.
It is 300 meters high and just 10 meters wide at its narrowest point. The canyon has vertical walls and is a magnet for international rock climbers. You can wander along the crystal-clear glacial waters of the river.
We continue our 7-day desert tour to the next wonder, Dades Gorge. Erosion formed some crazy rocks there. They are called “Monkey Fingers,” as they look like fat fingers.
You will spend the night in a typical hotel in the gorges of Dades. You will enjoy local hospitality with dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast, we start our Morocco tour with many beautiful sights. The Dades Valley and the Valley of the Roses are also called the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. You will see many rose-colored adobe kasbahs.
You will also see fields of crops with hedges of Damascus roses there. People grow Damascus roses there for their prized fragrant oil. In Kelaat M’gouna, we will stop at a rose cooperative. There, you can buy some rose water gifts and see how the roses are processed.
We continue our 7-day tour from Casablanca along this road to the palm grove of Skoura. Then we go to Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa, and to the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. It is a UNESCO heritage site and fortress.
We will have lunch in the village and visit the ksar. They made the movies The Gladiator, The Kingdom of Heaven, and The Prince of Persia here. They made many other movies here too.
Back on the road, we cross the high Atlas mountains. Their roads wind over the high pass of Tizi n’Tichka at 2260 meters. Here, we can stop to see how they make argan oil at a women’s cooperative.
Then, we'll drive down to Marrakech’s plains and Medina. This is where this 7-day imperial cities tour from Casablanca ends.
