This 5 day tour from Marrakech to Tangier is a great way to explore Morocco‘s amazing landscapes, culture, the Sahara desert, and history.

The tour starts in the red city of Marrakesh and ends in Tangier, where you can explore its old royal palaces and ancient monuments. Then you‘ll travel through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains and visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Hadou, a UNESCO heritage site.

After that, you‘ll head to the Dades Valley, Tinghir, and the Todra Valley, admiring the gorgeous rocky formations, Berber villages, and more. You‘ll then end your journey in Merzouga, where you will get to explore the desert on camelback, enjoy the sunset and sunrise over the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, and spend a night under the stars in a luxury desert camp.

On the next day, you’ll head north to Fes through the middle Atlas mountains, the cedar forest, and the Ziz valley and the cedar forest. You will then head to Voulubilis’ old Berber Roman ruins. After that,  we will continue our journey to Chefchaouen, the Blue Pearl, through the Rif Mountains, and finally terminate your 5 day tour from Marrakech in Tangier by dropping off at your place, airport, or port.

Day 01: Marrakech, Ait Benhaddou, warzazate and Dades Gorge

We leave the red plains of Al Haouz and the medina of Marrakech behind us. We climb up in the High Atlas Mountains to reach the highest pass, Tizi n´Tichka at 2260 meters.

Along the journey, you can observe Amazigh life. We pass adobe villages, terraced fields, and beautiful countryside. From the pass, we will stop for a photo break.

Then we will descend to visit the ksar of Ait Benhaddou. It is a fortified stronghold on the old salt caravan road to Timbuktu. Filmmakers have made many movies here, which has made it a favorite filming location as well.

After a lunch break, we continue to Warzazate. Many movies shot here have earned the nickname "the Hollywood of Africa." We drive through the Skoura Palm Groves.

Next, we'll continue our journey to Kelaat M´gouna, the Valley of the Roses. We'll travel the route of a thousand Kasbahs to arrive at the Dades Gorge. This trek has amazing beauty. 

There are kasbahs at every turn and valleys full of fruits, roses, and crops. Overnight with dinner and breakfast in a traditional guesthouse.

Day 02: Dades Gorge, Todra Gorge and Merzouga camel trek

After breakfast, we leave this amazing gorge. We're going to visit another one further along the valley. In Tinghir, we take the road up to the Todra Gorge. It's a favorite place for international rock climbers.

It boasts a 300-metre vertical fault. A crystal-clear glacial river runs through it. This pink-tinted canyon is only 10 meters wide at its narrowest point. Glacial activity formed it.

You can see nomads with their donkeys as they fill up water containers.

After a lunch break here, we continue south. We pass through palm groves and Berber villages with adobe kasbahs. The landscape changes and the Sahara sands welcome us to the Erg Chebbi dunes and Merzouga.

After a welcome mint tea, we will ride camels across the dunes and watch the sunset. Then, we will go to our nomadic-style camp, eat dinner, and listen to local music under the star-filled sky.

Day 03: Merzouga, Ziz Valley, Midelt, Ifrane and Fes

One of the most peaceful times of the day is before sunrise. Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning.

You will have the opportunity to witness the most memorable dawn of your life. The way the light changes as the sun comes up can be amazing. You will then ride your camel back to the hotel for a well-earned breakfast and shower if you wish.

Our journey continues. We will travel to Fes via Erfoud and Aoufous, along the magnificent Ziz Valley. we will stop at a panoramic view of a volcanic rock carved into it.

We will then pass through the Tizi n’Talghemt pass to Midelt. There, we will stop for lunch and refresh with a glass of mint tea. From there, we are in the Middle Atlas.

In Azrou, you can see the great cedar forests and the indigenous Barbary monkeys that call the area home. They are fun to watch and often steal food from passing cars.

After that, to Ifrane. The alpine architecture has earned it the nickname "Little Switzerland." Before reaching Fes's Imperial City and historic Medina, we will have a photo and coffee stop there. Will spend the night in a superior riad with half board.

Day 04: Fes, Volubilis and Chefchaouen

After breakfast, there will be a half-day guided tour of the medieval city. The city is both spiritual and cultural. After lunch, we take the road to the Roman ruins of Volubilis.

We're taking another cultural tour of ancient lifestyles. The site features huge columns and intricate mosaics. We are heading north. We drive across the rif mountains picturesque countryside, full of wildflowers and rolling fields.

We are heading to the rugged mountains of the Rif and exploring the hidden medina of Chefchaouen. Overnight in a riad with breakfast. We recommend a visit to the Atmospheric Square for dinner.

Day 05: Chefchaouen to Tangier

In the morning, you can take a wander around this charming blue city. Discover its hidden streets and blue doors. It has many interesting artisan shops. They are ideal for last-minute gifts and taking amazing photos.

After lunch, we take the road north for Tanger, where the 5 days trip finishes.
