We will pick you up from your hotel/riad in Fes and head for Ifran, a picturesque mountain village known as “the Switzerland of Morocco,” and then to Midelt. During this tour, you will catch sights of the Middle Atlas mountains. The tour will include a stop in Azrou, a Berber village located in the heart of Morocco’s famous cedar forest, where you may have the opportunity to see Barbary apes.
After some time in the forest, your journey continues to Midelt via the magnificent Atlas mountain. After Midelt, you will travel through the fascinating Tizi N’talghamt pass and the Ziz Valley, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau. As you approach the city of Errachidia, you will have lunch and enjoy Berber hospitality.
After that, you’ll journey through the lush Ziz Valley, stopping for breathtaking vistas along the route to Erfoud. Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. A glass of mint tea awaits you as you embark on a camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes. The camel man will make sure to give you the chance to watch what may be the best sunset of your lifetime. You will spend the night in a luxurious desert camp, complete with flush toilets and a hot shower, where you will also enjoy dinner and breakfast.
Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to witness the stunning splendor of a desert dawn. After breakfast at the desert Berber camp, you will ride your camel back to your Merzouga or automobile (optional), where the driver will meet you for the day’s excursion.
We leave the Merzouga Sahara desert and travel to Rissani, where we will visit the marketplace (market days are Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday), and then to Erfoud, where we will visit petrified marble manufacturers before continuing to Touroug and Tinjdad palm orchards.
One hour later, we’ll arrive at one of the High Atlas’ most beautiful locations, the Todra Gorges. The river’s passage carved out the cliff-sided canyon, which is popular with climbers due to its beauty and high rock sides. Enjoy a leisurely lunch in this stunning setting. We highly recommend taking a short walk through the gorges to fully appreciate the grandeur of the area. In the afternoon, we will travel to the Dades Valley, also known as the Figs Valley, stopping at a stop at the “monkey fingers.” We will have dinner and spend the night at the Dades Gorges.
We will spend the night in a hotel in the heart of this fantastic location.
After breakfast, we may enjoy one of the best views of the Dades Valley from a strategic lookout in the mountains, where we can see the large number of kasbahs and the picturesque features of each. Then we travel along a road dotted with tourist-friendly Kasbahs.
Following a brief pause to explore the “One Thousand Kasbahs Road,” we’ll travel to Ouarzazate via the Roses Valley and the vast Skoura palm forest to explore the Kasbah of Taourirt, the former home of the Glaoui or Marrakech pasha. In addition, if you are interested, we can go to the cinema studios and museum.
Then we’ll head to Ait Ben Haddou’s ksar (fortified village), where we’ll see the famous Kasbah (UNESCO recognized it as a World Heritage Site in 1986). Famous films have been shot on this beautiful stage, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, and so on.
After a lunch break in the kasbah, we continue our journey to Marrakech, passing via the high Atlas Mountains port of Tizi Ntichka and making several stops to take pictures. We leave the moonscape behind to enjoy another colorful scenery. We will arrive in Marrakech around 6 p.m., drop off at your hotel, and end our 3-day desert tour.

I took the 3 day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech and enjoyed every minute of it. The sunset camel ride from Merzouga over the dunes to a tent camp was stunning. The night in the Berber camp was an adventure. Dinner was delicious, and the music was enjoyable. Although it was cold, I slept well because we had warm covers in the tent. The remainder of the trip was truly amazing, encompassing visits to a Kasbah, a fossil site, the Fades Gorges, a movie studio, and much more. Hassan, our guide, provided us with a wonderful adventure.
We did the 4-day/3-night desert tour from Fes to Marrakech, and we enjoyed every moment of it. Our tour was well organized, the accommodations and food were beyond our expectations, Ibrahim answered my emails quickly and was very helpful, and our driver was nice. 🙂
Choosing the 4-day tour over the 3-day one proved to be a wise decision, as it allowed us to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Atlas Mountains on the first day and to spend more time in the Sahara desert on the second day. The best part of our trip was the night in the desert. It was an amazing experience to watch the sunset in the middle of the dunes, then have a delicious dinner and listen to Berber music around the fire, where Ibrahim and the others joined us as well, singing together and sharing some stories.
Overall, I would recommend this desert tour to everyone who wants to have an incredible experience
My husband and I took a 3-day desert trip from Fes to Marrakech with camel trekking. Our guide, Idir, was nice and explained a lot of the local culture and heritage to us, stopping wherever we wanted to take pictures. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone who wants to explore the desert and local culture.
Our driver, Ibrahim, was amazing! He picked us up from the airport in Fes and ended in Marrakesh. We had excellent accommodations throughout the entire trip. We traveled to the Sahara Desert across the country and saw the unique culture the country has to offer.
My wife and I decided to go on a camel trekking experience. The tour included pick-up in Fes, one day in the desert, one day in the Dades Valley, and finally transit to Marrakesh. Our driver, Youssef, was a delight, and it was a pleasure to spend 3 days with him. Specifically, he customized the planned stops according to our preferences, and his calm and confident demeanor expedited the lengthy journey, filled with numerous memorable moments.
The camel trekking in the desert was so peaceful and a culture shock from the busy Medinas. The red rocks and palms of the Dades Valley have to be seen to be believed. The three days cover such a diverse array of scenes and experiences (you get your money’s worth). Would highly recommend it.
