Start your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga with a convenient pickup from your hotel, riad, or another location in Marrakech. Depart the city and journey southeast into the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll discover stunning Berber villages and have the chance to take impressive photos of breathtaking landscapes.
Enjoy a delicious meal in Ait Ben Haddou, where you can also explore the historic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Since 1987, UNESCO has recognized this unique fortified town as an important cultural site. It has also been featured in famous films such as “Prince of Persia,” “Gladiator,” and the popular television series “Game of Thrones.”
After a brief drive to Ouarzazate, you can stop by Africa’s largest film studio if interested. Next, travel to Dades Gorge through the picturesque Valley of Roses. Before reaching your Accommodation for the night, you’ll have the opportunity to marvel at spectacular rock formations known as the “monkey fingers” and enjoy a panoramic view of the Gorge and valley.
Start your day with a delicious breakfast to set the tone for an exciting adventure. Begin your magnificent drive along the stunning Dades and Todra Rivers, surrounded by lush palm groves and traditional Berber villages. Your first stop will be the spectacular Todra Gorge in Tinghir, renowned as one of the world’s most breathtaking canyons. Following this, your adventure continues to the incredible Merzouga desert.
On your journey to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, our professional driver/guide will suggest a stop at a traditional Berber shop. Here, you can try on Berber clothing and take pictures for free. If you’d like, you can purchase desert-themed scarves or souvenirs, but there is no obligation to buy anything. The shop mainly aims to showcase and educate visitors about Berber culture. Let the guide know if you prefer not to visit the shop, and we will proceed.
Upon arriving in Merzouga, prepare for an unforgettable camel trek into the heart of the desert. As the sun sets behind the dunes, enjoy the beautiful scenery and partake in the fun activity of sandboarding. As night falls, retreat to a lovely desert tent for a delicious dinner. You will experience the magic of the desert at night, truly immersing yourself in its unique allure that has captivated people for ages.
An early morning wake-up is a terrific way to start the day. A close sand dune offers a breathtaking view of the sunrise. Your journey to the Merzouga desert will begin after a delicious breakfast at the camp. We have a customized 4×4 SUV that will transport you to meet the Berber Nomads that live beyond the dunes. They will show you how they live and explain their distinct culture. You will also visit a small hidden village called Mefis, listen to Gnawa music in Khamlia, and view the Lake of Birds if it is complete.
After lunch, we’ll go to your riad, where you can check in and relax. You can choose whether to swim or walk to the adjacent dunes during this time. Later in the evening, you will eat dinner and spend the night at your riad. Remember that you can spend another night at the desert camp.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast at your riad, we will begin our journey back to the bustling city of Marrakech. This time, we will travel across the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest valley. During this drive, we will stop in Agdez to take in the panoramic views of the palm tree-filled landscape.
We will also be able to stop in Ouarzazate for a tasty lunch. Afterward, we will continue our trip back to Marrakech through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. This four-day trip from Marrakech to the Merzouga desert will conclude with a drop-off at your Accommodation.

My fiancé and I came to Morocco on our honeymoon and booking this tour was the best decision of the entire trip. Our guide, Hassan, made the tour amazing! He made sure every moment was fun and exciting. They picked us up at our riad in Marrakech and dropped us off at our riad in Marrakech. He made sure everything was perfect along the way. They truly made us feel special. I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone!
We had a great time during the 4 days Marrakech Desert Trip. The landscape was magnificent and the camel riding was lots of fun. Also, the tent and hotel we stayed in were very nice. Our driver Idir is very kind and patient that he takes us to many places in these days. He arranged a quite comfortable trip for us. So, highly recommended!
