8 Days tour from Marrakech Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive in Marrakech
The 8-day Morocco journey begins with a pickup from the Marrakech airport. Before we transport you to your hotel, we’ll give you a brief tour of the city. Overnight stay in a riad.
Day 02: Guided tour of Marrakech
After breakfast, we will visit the sights of Marrakech with a local guide. The city is considered one of Morocco’s imperial cities. The visit includes the Bahia Palace, the Saadian tombs, and the Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque. You will have the opportunity to meander around Morocco’s largest traditional souk. You have some free time to eat lunch in Jemaa El-Fna Square. Later, you will see the Koutoubia mosque, Marrakech’s largest, and the Majorelle Garden. Finally, get to your riad. Feel free to explore Jemaa El-Fna Square on your own.
Day 03: Marrakech—High Atlas Mountains—Telouet Kasbah—Ait Benhaddou Kasbah—Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your Marrakech riad. Then, we will drive across the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass. We will take a break to enjoy the panoramic views of the stunning scenery. Then, we will visit Telouat’s Kasbah.
Following that, we will visit the famed Kasbah in Ait Ben Haddou. UNESCO designated this walled village as a World Heritage Site. Films like Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy have all featured the Kasbah. Television shows like Game of Thrones also feature the Kasbah. Next, we travel to Ouarzazate, “The Gate of the Desert.”Then, proceed southeast to Amridil Kasbah, surrounded by palm groves in Skoura. Then continue to Rose Valley. Every year in May, the people hold a Rose Festival to display their rose-related products. Then we drive through the Dades Valley, stopping to see the breathtaking scenery of the Dades Gorges.
Day 04: Dades Gorges, Todra Gorges, Merzouga Desert, camel ride, and night in the desert
After a warm breakfast, we head to the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a spectacular red cliffside canyon through the mountains—free time for lunch. Feel free to roam through the gorges and enjoy the scenery. In the afternoon, we arrive at the Saharan desert of Merzouga. As you travel over the dusty desert, you convert to riding camels. We’ll stop at a high dune to watch the sunset. Then proceed to the desert campsite. Enjoy the Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under the starry sky. Dinner and stay at the campsite.
Day 05: Merzouga Dunes, Erfoud, Midelt, Cedar Forest, Ifrane, and Fes
After breakfast, we leave the desert to reach Rissani, Tafilalet’s old capital. Rissani remains an important trading town in the region, with a vast, bustling souk. Following a stroll around Rissani Souk, we proceed to Erfoud, where we visit one of the fossilized marble workshops.
After that, we travel down the Ziz River, stopping for a panoramic view of the valley. In Midelt, you have free time for lunch. Then we head to the cedar forest, where Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them while strolling through the forest. Following that, we visit Ifrane, which is known for its cold temperatures, snow, and alpine-style houses. It comes as no surprise that it is known as Morocco’s Switzerland. Finally, we will drop you off at your Riad in Fes.
Day 06: Guided Tour Sightseeing in Fes
After breakfast, we will start your city tour. Fes is an imperial city and a cultural and religious center of Morocco. We begin the day by visiting the Royal Palace Gate. UNESCO has designated the well-preserved medieval Medina as a World Heritage Site. The Blue Gate, also known as Bab Boujloud, marks the entrance to the old Medina. You will enter the Medina with a local guide. You will have the opportunity to visit the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, and the tanneries.
Finally, we arrive at the Qaraouin Mosque and University, the world’s oldest institution of academic learning. After that, we leave the Medina to see the Jewish district, known as “the Mellah.” Then we drive to a historic fortress with magnificent views of the Medina and Fes. Then return to the riad.
Day 07: Fes, Meknes, Volubilis Ruins, Chefchaouen.
After breakfast, we head to Meknes, the capital of Ismaili and one of the royal cities. We visit Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani Basin, the Royal Stables, the Granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum—free time for lunch. Next, we drive 30 kilometers from Meknes to the old Roman ruins of Volubilis. UNESCO has designated it as a World Heritage Site, signifying it is in excellent condition. Several exquisite mandrills, as old as pillars, are strewn throughout the way.
After exploring the ruins, we go north through Ouazzane to Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. The city is known as The Blue City, famed for its blue-painted houses and lanes. We stay overnight in a hotel.
Day 08: Chefchaouen-Casablanca airport
We will then transfer you to Casablanca, depending on your travel time. This is the end of our 8-day Morocco tour.
