Day 1: Marrakech - Ouzoud Waterfalls - Beni Mellal
This five day tour of Morocco’s Imperial cities also takes you through some stunning scenery and diverse landscapes. We leave the red city of Marrakech around 08.00 am and drive north to the famous and spectacular waterfalls at Ouzoud. A three tiered magnificent cascade that casts rainbows as it tumbles down to the river below with brightly coloured rafts bringing people close to the cascading water. Lunch in one of the terraced restaurants gives you full view of the falls as well as the picturesque woodlands that surround it. We will end the day in the city of Beni Mellal, where we will spend the night in local hotel or riad.
Day 2: Beni Mellal - Azrou - Ifrane - Fes
We continue or tour travelling north through the Middle Atlas Mountains, here you may see the indigenous inhabitants as they come to take food from passers-by. Barbary Monkeys live in the great cedar forests of this region and are quite mischievous. This is also an area called little Switzerland, alpine style architecture in Azrou and Ifrane as well as abundant snow in winter make it a popular place and is close to an international ski resort. Our tour today ends in the ancient Imperial city of Fes where you will spend the night in the old Medina.
Day 3: Fes Guided Tour
Today with the help of a knowledgeable guide you will discover Fes; the oldest Imperial City of Morocco which was founded in theVIIIth century by Moulay Idriss II. You will visit the Medina of Fes el-Bali, a UNESCO Heritage site for more than 30 years, with more than 9000 streets in a car free zone; it is a labyrinth of intrigue and interest. The Attarine Koranic school; called a Medersa, is perhaps one of the most beautiful in Fes, we will also visit Nejjarine and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss.
After lunch we will visit the QuaraouiyineMosque, belonging to the QuaraouiyineUniversity, the oldest in history, which was founded in the year 880 by a woman. We will also visit the new city; Fez Jdid.
Day 4: Fes - Meknes -Volubilis - Rabat
This morning we leave Fes and drive to Meknes where we discover another, yet very different city with its own history. This is one of the most important Imperial Cities of Morocco. The royal granaries which also kept the beautiful Andalusian horses, the immense walls with the Bab Mansour Gate, its vast basin of water, along with luxurious palaces and beautiful mosques and also some of the important souks in Morocco are places one should visit.
After Meknes, we will be driving to the UNESCO roman ruins of Volubilis. This in an extensive site, still undergoing discoveries and restoration in parts. This was an important strategic city and has many mosaics and remains of houses, columns and gateways to be seen.
We will end the day in the administrative capital city of Morocco; Rabat. Here we will visit Mechouar; the ramps and walls around the Royal Palace, the Kasbah of the Oudayas as well asthe magnificent Mausoleum of Mohammed V and Hassan II. We will spend the night in local hotel or riad.
Day 5: Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech
The last day of your tour we’ll visit the famous city of Casablanca. It is the economic cultural capital of Morocco and home to the world’s third largest Mosque. The Hassan II Mosque is an exception piece of craftsmanship with zellig, cedar wood and polished marble work that is very beautiful and well worth the time to visit, inside you can see the ablution rooms and the pool as well as the massive doors and sliding roof. After visiting Casablanca we will return to Marrakech and transport you to the airport.
